Pohutukawa - New Zealand's Xmas Tree

Pohutukawa trees are a New Zealand native tree.

Just for a few weeks in December / January, the tree turns its Christmas lights on!

I heard that if the Pohutukawa tree blooms before Christmas there will be a long, hot summer...

I love seeing them hang over the beach with their long branches. It's so great to sit under the trees in summer.

Pohutukawa can live for hundreds of years, and can probably live up to 1000 years!!
